We are dedicated to ensuring Fitzwilliam House is a fun and varied place to live, and go out of our way to bring engaging and varied activities and events to residents. Our Lifestyle Coordinator creates fantastic, personalised programmes of events and activities. We encourage residents to be as sociable as they wish to be with chatty communal lounges and an activities room, as well as quiet spaces and a mature garden to relax in.

With a rich local history we help our residents head out and see museums and places of interest to them. Our salon hairdresser can cut residents hair as well as offering the chance for you to pamper yourself and relax. Residents are supported to continue to enjoy their existing hobbies and are welcome to suggest something new they’d like to try. This is what makes our approach to caring completely person-centred. There were sufficient staff to keep people safe and meet their care and support needs. Staff worked well together in a mutually supportive way and communicated effectively, within the team and with external agencies. To share our knowledge with the wider community and friends and family of residents, we also run a dementia support group, a carers support group and a dementia café that is open to the public. Our team is dedicated to ensuring every person we support receives sensitive, compassionate, appropriate care to help live their lives as happily and comfortably as possible. We also have weekly religious services conducted by visiting church personnel, monthly music therapy, and regular pub lunches, garden centre visits and daytrips to Cambridge. We celebrate birthdays and special occasions with enthusiasm and style, with home-baked cakes, decorations and, of course, family and friends. People’s individual risk assessments were reviewed and updated to take account of changes in their needs. Staff knew how to recognise and report any concerns to keep people safe from harm. There was evidence of that the service learnt from significant incidents and events.
All residents appreciate the key things like delicious meals and laundry services. With just 40 bedrooms over two floors, our bright and welcoming care home is small, friendly and accessible. Whilst the location of our home, with open fields and beautiful countryside nearby, is second-to-none, it is our amazing residents and kind and compassionate team, who really make our home outstanding.
